DORDRECHT / SLIEDRECHT – KWF Kankerbestrijding maakt zich zorgen over de GenX-lozingen bij chemiefabriek Chemours en wil dat onderzocht wordt hoe dit heeft kunnen gebeuren. Dat bericht het onderzoeksprogramma Zembla van omroep BNNVara.

Omdat de overschrijdingen achteraf zijn aangetoond, greep Rijkswaterstaat niet in. Omroep BNNVara bericht: “KWF vindt het verontrustend dat de overschrijding niet onmiddellijk door een handhavende instantie maar pas achteraf door een derde partij is geconstateerd.” (Archieffoto Hans van der Aa / Sliedrecht24)

Aanleiding is de bekendmaking door milieuchemicus Chiel Jonker, waarover maandag 17 oktober 2022 is bericht. Jonker deed zijn uitspraken op basis van onderzoek in opdracht van Rijkswaterstaat naar PFAS-data, afkomstig van watermeetpunten in de buurt van de fabriek. Jonker ontdekte stroomafwaarts van de fabriek bij Brienenoord en Maassluis, enorme pieken GenX-concentraties in het water. “Mijn schatting is dat ze in een paar maanden zo’n 150 kilo geloosd hebben.” KWF is geschrokken van de bevindingen van Jonker. “Dat is een overschrijding van 21-30 maal de toegestane jaarnorm”, zegt KWF tegen omroep BNNVara.
